STUTTGART, Germany — Porsche has begun production of the new Cayenne (http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/ViewModelDetail/make=Porsche/model=Cayenne) diesel at its Leipzig plant in Germany. Sales in Germany and other European markets begin in February, with prices starting at around $66,800.
The Cayenne diesel is fitted with a 236-horsepower 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel supplied by Audi, fitted to a Tiptronic S automatic transmission.
The engine develops 406 pound-feet of torque and returns an average fuel economy of 25 mpg.
