Porsche has decided to suspend the efforts of its factory team in the ALMS series.
As a quick update, the ALMS (American Le Mans series) was started and run by Danny Panoz (of Panoz cars and the trans-dermal patch fame). It was set up as a way to bring big time sportscar racing back to North America, and also firm up connections with the Le Mans 24 hour race in France. Things have been pretty good for as long as anyone can remember. Audi has brought the big guns over, and has essentially been cleaning up in the premier category, LMP 1, while over the last few seasons, the second tier, LMP 2, has seen the likes of Acura & Porsche duke it out.
And on more than one occasion, Porsche has claimed overall victories with its LMP 2 classed RS Spyders prepped & campaigned by Roger Penske.
