Neet looking car. we haven't had Fiats for a long time in the states. I owned an 850 back in the 70s. I really liked the car. I always wanted a 124 and you still see quite a few of those on the roads here, and fairly cheap. Parts may be hard to come by though. I would like to see Fiat come back, as well as Alfa's. We are getting the 200k Alfa soon, or so the rags say. Since the market has dropped dramatically I'm not sure Alfa will follow through on their re-introduction in the states. I rented a small diesel Alfa when in Italy a couple of years ago. It was a very nice car, and I loved the torque availability in such an economy car.

They say that FIATs will be available again in US till 2010, but as you say, the market in US has dropped dramatically so you never know! :(

From the Los Angeles Times
Europe's Car of the Year is fun to own and drive -- not least because of its fuel economy.

RETRO AND READY: The Fiat 500, reviving the classic look of the postwar Nuova 500, is a car America could really use. (Dan Neil/ Los Angeles Times)
Where are the hot-cool small cars, the drive-all-night cars, the panties-on-the-mirror cars? Where they've always been: In Europe. Here's a look at two of them: The Fiat 500 and the Alfa Romeo MiTo (http://www.latimes.com/classified/automotive/highway1/la-hy-alfa9-2008jul09,0,1320097.story).
Cute? Think a bunny in bib overalls, a box of bright yellow Easter chicks, a cement mixer full of Christmas kittens. Oh, my God. The Fiat 500 -- also known as Cinquecento, which is Italian for coed flypaper -- is about as adorable as it gets.
