iPhone connection

Hi, has anyone found a way of connecting their 3g iPhone to the boxster, I have used a couple of different FM transmitters but these work OK but the iphone keeps trying to switch into airplane mode and if I put the unit in the arm rest box it over heats so it is all wires and fly around the car if I have it anywhere else.

I don't have the satnav pack just the standard CD/radio.
