Hello everybody

i have a 944 S2 without a LSD.
But i have the chance to replace my gearbox/differential with another S2 differential which has LSD.

I use my car just for small trips and mostly arround athens durring weekends which means no autocross or track use at all.

I have the feeling a normal no lim slip dif is more forgiving on the limit.

for those who dont know S2 is a car with 211hp so not so much power.

What is your opinion and why.

many thanx people

The chief purpose of possessing a differential equipped with LSD is to limit the amount of slip to the rear wheels. In other words, to prevent spinning and improve handling and traction.

Having said that, unless you live in a northern climate and actually drive your car during winter months, I sincerely doubt that you will benefit from the use of an LSD-equipped differential.:icon_thumright:

That is correct!
But, on the other hand, the roads in Greece are very slippery and when the rain comes, things are very bad, so it may have some purpose to have it even in Greece!
Also you will have better acceleration, in any condition!

To be honest i have lived with an LSD equiped S2 for a year. It was great playing arround in slippery roads and ofcourse there was more grip in straight line.

on the other hand I have to say that in some certain conditions it was kinda dangerous.

For instance, while driving off the trafic lights once i shifted through 1st to 2nd and then into 3rd, i thought to start pushing the accelerator. The road was straight, dry but slipery. S2 engine torque diagrame is very flat so it pulls right after 1500-2000rpm. So the wheels from a point and on started spining but not in a way to understand it clearly. The speed of the wheels was just a tik faster than the road. This didnt alarm me, so at point were i turned the steering wheel just a little, i immidiately felt the rear of the car to be a bit loose. This happened a couple of month since i had bought the car and it kinda frightened me.

In the same example if i had the non-LSD one of the two wheels would have spin taking away the extra power and the other one would keep the rear end on track with the front axle.

I realy want the LSD for the reasons you all said, we all know sportscars with lsd are more aprecieated and more fun, but on the other hand i still belive they are kinda dangerous in an off-track use.

I SURE know my Friend!

But to be honest another thing that i found out and you must know this for sure is that a Crashed Original 944 can be sold easier than a "maimou" 944 in mint condition lol.
That realy helped me to save money to buy another original S2 and i am realy happy about it! :icon_thumright:

How are you doing anyway! How come and i see you arround this place, have you sold your 944 yet? :icon_thumright:
